The first of the larger cruise ships has arrived in Rockland Harbor for the 2026 season.
The 1,046-foot long Celebrity Silhouette, which can carry 2,886 passengers, arrived Sunday with the first passengers arriving on shore at the public landing at 8 a.m.
Rockland volunteers greeted passengers with its Port Share program.
Rockland restricts the larger cruise ships to September and October. The smaller American Cruise Line ships come in from May through October.
The Celebrity Silhouette will make four port calls in Rockland this year.
The other visits will be Sept. 18, Sept. 29, and Oct. 10. Each visit by this largest ship will bring in nearly $29,000 in revenues to the city.
The 551-foot Scenic Eclipse with its 228 passengers is scheduled to visit on Monday, Sept. 14.
The 522-foot Star Pride will visit twice. The ship, which can carry 312 passengers, is scheduled to visit Rockland on Sept. 15 and Oct. 19.
