
An Eastbrook man was arrested Saturday after allegedly using his pickup truck to intentionally strike a motorcycle during a road rage incident, seriously injuring the rider, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash on Blackwoods Road in Franklin was reported at approximately 12:26 p.m. Witnesses said the pickup truck struck the motorcycle, forcing it into a guardrail. The motorcycle then lost control and crashed. The driver of the pickup fled the scene but witnesses provided deputies with the vehicle’s registration plate.
The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital and then airlifted by LifeFlight of Maine to another facility, where they are in stable but serious condition.
Shannon Abbott, 43, of Eastbrook, was identified as the pickup truck driver and arrested. He was taken to Hancock County Jail and charged with elevated aggravated assault, aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, aggravated driving to endanger and leaving the scene of a personal injury crash. More charges are possible, according to a statement.
