BELFAST — Hawthorne Arts Collaborative is proud to welcome Mid-coast’s Americana party band The Hot Suppers for a concert celebrating the release of their new album “Time Is Now”. The proceeds from the concert will support the Hawthorne Arts Collaborative’s continued mission and operations.
Drawing on a broad diversity of genres, the album presents a mix of thoughtful and rhythmically driving original songs and highlights the rich, vocal harmonies and joyful energy the band is known for.
This one-night special presentation will take place on the Colonial Theatre’s Dreamland Stage on Saturday, May 9 with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Music will begin at 7 p.m. This event is generously sponsored by First National Bank, with additional support provided by the Belfast Community Co-Op, Revision Energy, Terra Firma Professional Engineering and Carousel Wine and Cheese.
The Hot Suppers have been performing together since 2021, drawing crowds of enthusiastic dancers to events across the mid-coast and beyond. The album captures the spirit of those dance parties in addition to the band’s more lyrically focused songs.
“If you were there for the recording of their first album Live at The Colonial Theatre , you recall what a special night we all enjoyed hooting, hollering and singing together,” Annadeene Fowler, the band’s vocalist, said. “This time we took our original tunes and brought them to Lincoln Clapp’s recording studio in town and recorded them over the course of a year. The results are Time is Now! Sure to be a hit with die-hard and new fans alike.”
The event will serve as a celebration of the album and a fundraiser for operations of the beautiful and historic Colonial Theatre.
“The Hot Suppers are honored to support the film, music, and community hub we’re so lucky to have here in Belfast.” Fowler continues, “The Colonial Theatre has been a thread through my life — from my early high school memories to sharing it now with my own kids — a place where so many meaningful moments have unfolded. We’re deeply grateful to return for the release of ‘Time Is Now’ and to support the Hawthorne Arts Collaborative in caring for this beloved local gem.”
“If you’ve ever been at a Hot Suppers show, you know — it’s hard to sit still,” Alice Seeger, the Colonial’s interim executive director, said “This is one of those nights where the whole theatre comes alive. We’re grateful to have the band back at the Colonial Theatre, and fortunate to have a place like the Colonial where music, community, and celebration all come together.”
