An Otisfield man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm Saturday night after a shooting incident outside a home.
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Department said they received a 911 call around 7:10 p.m. reporting that a woman had been shot and injured. Deputies from Oxford and Cumberland counties responded, along with Maine State Police, officers from Oxford and Norway, and crews from the Otisfield Fire Department and Pace Ambulance.
When they arrived, they found a 28-year-old woman who had non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the hand. She was taken by ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital.
The sheriff’s office said John K. Pottle, Jr., 38, had shot an AR-15 style rifle “recklessly in the vicinity of the victim, subsequently shooting and injuring her.” Pottle’s firearm was seized and he was taken to Oxford County Jail.
