A Bangor man was arrested Friday after police found drugs allegedly hidden in his Vespa scooter.
David Costa, 56, has been charged with aggravated drug trafficking, operating under habitual offender status, unlawful drug possession and violation of his conditions of release, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
Costa was stopped by police Friday after an officer spotted him riding the Vespa without a license plate displayed. During the traffic stop, he allegedly gave the officer a fake name and date of birth before turning over identification with his real name and birth date, McAmbley said Tuesday morning.
A search of the Vespa’s storage compartment turned up cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and cash, McAmbley said.
Costa was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
